As a host of numerous tours, a regular presenter of the annual log price update, a long-time member of BSWA, and an active participant in Oregon forest policy development, Van has made a tangible difference and been a positive influence on a measurable scale.
Van’s and wife Ann’s 250-acre tree farm serves as a model of Van’s thinning and stand density expertise – expertise he routinely shares through tours with groups of elementary, secondary and college students, foresters, and OSWA members.
OSWA members for more than 25 years, the Decker’s were Tree Farmers of the Year for Benton County’s Chapter in 2002.
Van was instrumental in the establishment of the Castle family’s 2016 gift of a 20-acre forested plot of land near Wren to serve as an outdoor classroom for Philomath High School forestry students.
Congratulations, Van. We are honored to call you friend and to be the long-time recipients of your generosity.
