Researchers led by Dr. Eric T Jones in the College of Forestry has been awarded a grant from the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service: “Building a Sustainable Bigleaf Maple Sap Industry in Oregon through Landowner Awareness, Networking, Mapping, Education and Training”

The tapping season is in the winter, so now is the best time to start preparing. Landowners and those interested in tapping Bigleaf Maple, and other trees, in Oregon for edible saps can visit the Oregon Tree Tappers website to get connected with a wealth of resources, training announcements, and a webform for those who may have a commercial interest.
