OSWA Lobbies for Landowners

Did you know that OSWA has a full-time State Affairs Coordinator who effectively lobbies on issues of importance at the state level; speaking up for your rights as an Oregon Small Woodland owner?

OSWA also maintains a professionally staffed office suite in Salem with an Executive Officer on call and accessible to members throughout the week. Staff and volunteers work closely and actively with local and state agencies, legislators and Oregon’s political process to ensure that family owned forests continue to thrive and prosper.

OSWA staff and members have a proud tradition of working together to find practical solutions to the divisive issues of the day. By engaging with other groups in a constructive manner, we strive to promote the important and essential roles that family owned woodlands play in society.

We encourage you to read OSWA’s positions on currentĀ legislative issues, as well asĀ OSWA Policies, to better understand what it is the Oregon Small Woodlands Association represents and how we accomplish our goals.

OSWA actively participates in each legislative session with a full time lobbyist to address issues important to small woodland owners.

Roger Beyer, a small woodland owner from Clackamas County and a past state senator, is OSWA’s lobbyist for the 2018 Legislative Session.

Through collaboration with allied organizations, OSWA has had success in protecting the interests of small woodland owners.

On odd legislative years, OSWA holds an event at the state Capital during the legislative session to introduce legislators to issues important to small woodland owners and to educate OSWA members about the inter-workings of Oregon’s legislative process. This event, known as “Day at the Capital”, has been effective in meeting both objectives.
