Dear Family Forest Owner,

Columbia County Chapter of the Oregon Small Woodlands Association, invites you to participate in a free local woods tour on Saturday 17. 2019, with your neighbors Dick and Gayanne Courter at 57641 Timber Road, Vernonia. Dick with share their forest management strategies on property in the family for nearly 80 years. This 54 acre parcel was purchased in 1964 for the purpose of moving logging equipment off part of the ownership planned to be sold.

The free tour will begin at 8:00am with coffee, donuts and introductions. The program will begin at 8:30. Buses and vans will travel a short distance to observe thinning strategies, road construction, desired species management, riparian protections, and observe active timber harvest activities. Be sure to wear proper clothing, walking shoes, and have sun glasses as needed. The tour will conclude with a catered lunch.

As a family forest owner, you are a member of a select group of forest owners. A common theme found with most family forest owners is managing your forest sustainably, keeping the forest productive and healthy, while recognizing the forest’s economic, environmental and social values. The tour will focus on all these forest values.
