Douglas County Small Woodland Association 2021 Tree Farmer of the Year
Douglas Small Woodlands Association selects Evan & Lorreen Barnes as Douglas County’s Tree Farmer of the Year 2021.
Beginning with Marion and Pat Rentz’s Wildcat Creek Farm in Camas Valley in 1977, a family or individual has been chosen for their exemplary forest stewardship and woodland management.
Evan and Lorreen have managed their woodland in Melrose, for multiple benefits for 15 years. Dotted on the hillside are beautifully pruned, ancient fruit trees. Walnut trees abound in the yard, a bountiful garden lies beyond, cattle are grazing in the field, and timbered hillsides stand across the valley in an agroforestry – silvopasture, symbiotic harmony.
Evan has recently been milling his own wood for projects around the tree farm, which he is amazingly capable and constantly in the middle of.
Our Tree Farmer of the Year 2021 woods tour planned for September 18, 2021 has been postponed.
Your chapter is ready to bring you the BRranch tour with Evan and Lorreen when conditions allow. We will let you know as soon as possible.
