On April 2nd a group of 16 participants and two leaders (thank you, Jody Einerson, for assisting with this event!) took a leisurely “meandering” walk in Peavy Arboretum to check out the spring wildflowers. The weather was mild and there was no rain. We followed the trail from the parking lot, up the hill to the forestry club cabin and on to Cronemiller Lake. We stopped frequently to identify, observe, photograph and talk about the plants we were seeing along the way. Not all were in flower but many could be identified from just the foliage. We observed more than 45 different species during the course of the walk.
Hopefully the participants will now be able to go back to their own tree farms and recognize some new plants. It was a fun day!
