What We Do
OSWA's activities and actions are focused around the following objectives, which are all designed to support Oregon's small woodland owners in every way possible:
- To provide a medium for the exchange of ideas about family forestland in collaboration with other family forest owners, public agencies, forestry consultants, timber industry representatives, and other interested parties
- To serve as a forum to help investigate and solve problems associated with the management of family owned forests
- To disseminate information to:
- Educate owners of forested tracts on forest management issues
- Sustainably manage forests for the wide variety of forest values
- Grow, harvest, and market forest crops
- Foster the wise use and protection of forests
- Keep members informed about new and ongoing issues related to the ownership of forested properties in Oregon
- To comply with laws and regulations associated with forestry in Oregon.
- To educate the public about the values provided by small woodland owners in Oregon
- To represent the owners of family forestlands to the general public, state legislative bodies, and state regulatory agencies
OSWA operates on several levels; on the local county/chapter level, on a statewide level, and through collaboration with others on a national level. This allows our members to choose their level of participation, as well as their level of advocacy on issues that are important to them.
